Safeguarding Toolbox Talks

Hertswood Academy has been the first site to have safeguarding/ child protection toolbox talk training, devised with the site and school. It was produced by the site as a result of the increasing work with young people on all projects, including open days, ‘bring a young person to work’ days, work experience, and site visits with school children, especially on sites which are schools.

The awareness and safety of children must be a major concern as they are often in the company’s care when visiting projects. Hertswood School were pleased to know that they were trialling the toolbox talk on this project, as it aligned with their safeguarding of their young people.

Willmott Dixon’s supply chain and workforce do come in to contact with young people on the project at Hertswood (and elsewhere), so this training has been essential.

The workforce and supply chain were happy to take part in the toolbox talks, as it gives them clear guidance on how to protect the students and themselves. This has now been rolled out to other projects as a result of its success.
