In a high-risk environment like a construction site, it is essential that procedures are in place in case of emergency. Many sites now put tags on operatives’ hard hats displaying medical information which could save someone’s life if they have been in an accident.

See the examples below for how one site further developed this safety initiative:

  • Placed ‘in case of emergency’ tags on operatives’ boots, as well as on their hats.
  • The labels display medical conditions, allergies, emergency contact numbers and medications.
  • As a worker’s safety helmet could fall off or be damaged in an accident, the boot tags ensure that first aiders will always have access to the medical information they need.

Clearly displaying operatives’ medical information is essential in an emergency, and will hopefully minimise the risk of severe injuries and fatalities on site.
