Silt Bag System for Site Water Run Off

Following the enabling works to the site, it was discovered that the site was accumulating surface water, which was not naturally draining away due to ground conditions.

In collaboration with SEPA, a system was designed to drain away all surface water on site into the drainage network. The system developed is an innovative environmentally friendly system, the drainage is all gravity fed, with no requirement for any pumping of the water. A field drain runs directly through the centre of the site and connects into a Silt Bag (tea bag) which separates the silt from the water and cleans the water prior to distribution into the drainage network.

The system requires no means of power or fuel. Other systems available on the market, for example the silt buster, require the surface water to be pumped into the machine and release clean water from there.

The cleanliness of the water is tested on a daily basis following discharge from the silt bag.
