Solar Power

At Lotus, we have introduced solar charged power banks to charge our mobile phones. These have been offered to the workforce to charge their phones.

Now they can charge their phones in their toolboxes, rather than in the welfare facilities, potentially unattended. There are 83,100,000 mobile phones in the UK, and each takes 2kWh to charge over the course of a year. That’s a massive 166,200,000kWh, and if we all charge our phones this way at 14 pence per kWh, changing to solar power banks would incur a massive saving.

As an added bonus, the power banks come with built in torches.
