Supporting Local Causes in Aberdeen via Onsite Fundraising

On 8 December 2017 Aberdeen South of the City staff handed over a cheque for £2500 to Torry Academy Headteacher Jenny Cranna & Lochside Academy Executive Headteacher Neil Hendry.

The funding will enable Torry Academy and Kincorth Academy to put on a production of the brand new Andrew Lloyd Webber musical ‘School of Rock’ which will involve over 300 pupils from both the Kincorth and Torry communities.

The production will take place in the Tivoli Theatre in Aberdeen on 28 May – 1 June 2018 and will mark the closure of the current secondary and celebrate the joining of both schools to become Lochside Academy when the new South of the City project is completed in June 2018.

All of the funding was raised from the onsite tuck shop which is supported by the onsite project team as well as project subcontractors.

This recent donation has been made possible thanks to the efforts of the site team and subcontractors in raising funding with special mentions to Margaret Donegan (Site Administrator) and Mo Machrouhi (Security Guard) who go above and beyond every week to stock the site tuck shop and sell refreshments to site staff.

Over the past year, the Aberdeen South of the City project team have raised nearly £4000 for local causes from the site tuck shop and additional funding raised has been donated to Cash for Kids north east, Old Torry Community Centre, Kincorth Community Centre and Kirkhill Primary.
