The ARC youth club is a located on the Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate, very near to the Wates site in Camden.
The ARC supports young people aged 9–19 from the Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate and surrounding areas by helping them to achieve their potential as confident, capable young adults through a structured programme of activities ranging from football, music technology, dance, art and much more!
In addition to sporting, educational and creative activities, the ARC is a safe place for young people to meet friends, develop activities and projects with their peers, build relationships with adults as well as get help and advice. They also help young people with advice about apprenticeships, further education and employment prospects through signposting and helping with CVs. This youth centre also houses a full recording studio.
Wates have donated £10000 so ARC will be able to recruit, train and support 8-10 young people in roles as youth researchers and as young leaders. They envisage that these will be young people aged [9-25] from diverse backgrounds and including a mix of genders.
All will be residents in or close to the Alexandra and Ainsworth (Rowley Way) estate, ranked among the top 10% most deprived in England for income deprivation and income deprivation affecting children, with parts also amongst the top 10% most deprived based on living environment and health deprivation.
The young people directly involved will benefit from the training and support they receive, including in learning new skills, growing in confidence and being better equipped in life skills for their own future development.
