Thermocouple to Assess Concrete Strength in Real Time

This contractor is using a thermocouple to assess concrete strength. The thermocouple is fixed by cable ties and then connected to the wireless transmitter. The contractor will then cast and pour the concrete and using the web portal view the results

Using this method of concrete testing has benefits for the project which are:

  • The requirement for manually making cubes out of wet concrete is removed which greatly reduces the chance of chemical burns on the hands.
  • As cubes are not being delivered to a crushing facility the lorry is not on the road which reduces fuel usage and traffic.
  • As the dry concrete cubes are not being crushed the levels of harmful silica dust build up in crushing facilities is reduced which in turn reduces the chances of the workers in the plant getting silicosis.
