Use of Local Suppliers

The site team has been concentrating on using sub-contractors and suppliers from the local area. The contractor originally intended to use a timber and aluminium hybrid window produced by Senior Architectural Systems (SAS) in the construction process.

However, local licensed companies were unable to produce this system without jeopardising trade with existing customers, so the company successfully changed the specification to an SAS aluminium system, which could be produced locally.

The windows are now being produced within 20 miles of the site, bringing approximately £600,000 of work to the local economy. The company have also successfully changed the type of cladding to one sourced locally and are applying this spotlight to other products.
