Video RAMS and Inspection and Test Plans

The industry have moved on from traditional paper RAMS and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP) to photographic which has been widely received within the industry as ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’. This contractor have been carrying out video RAMS/ITP’s on their project

They also have a ‘Project Show Me Exercise’ for all activities on site which has traditionally been used for ensuring that all the high-risk activities are being reviewed on site by the whole project team. Upon a satisfactory completion and collating all the advice from all involved the RAMS and ITP’s are reviewed to suit. This ensures that a thorough review by all is carried out.

To push the boundaries further they have been carrying out the exercise so that safety and quality are combined as one, due to one of them traditionally being responsible for why the other one has failed. The exercise is Videoed if appropriate, with static photographs being created if not, and is carried out as a combined exercise involving all managers, site supervisors and operatives who are to be involved in the activity and the preceding activity. This ensures that the best approach to each activity is achieved by encompassing safety and quality as one whilst allowing the follow-on activities to understand everything prior to them starting.
