Washing Facilities

Clean, well maintained washing and drying facilities should be available on site.

Washing facilities could be available next to both toilets and changing areas (and rest areas if possible).

Washing facilities should include:

  • A clean supply of hot and cold running water;
  • Soap or other suitable means of cleaning;
  • Towels or a hand dryer for drying;
  • Ventilation and lighting;
  • Sinks large enough to wash face, hands and forearms.

The provision of showers is ideal to ensure that workers are able to thoroughly wash after completing particularly dirty or dusty work.

This is important for worker satisfaction, but also to give a good image of the workforce to visitors and the local residents.
