The Scheme’s research into inappropriate language and behaviour found that:
- 50% of women in the UK have been sexually harassed at work (BBC, 2017).
- Over 40% of women in the UK have experienced patronising comments or behaviour (Crunch Accounting, 2016).
- An estimated 75% of 25-34 year olds consider themselves having been discriminated against for their age (CV Library, 2017).
- Over 50% of under 18s feel they are not taken seriously because of their age (CV Library, 2017).
- Almost 60% of bosses in the UK believe using terms of endearment is unacceptable (Hiscox, 2012).
- Around 75% of women in the UK think the use of pet names is offensive (One Poll, 2012).
- 25% of women in the UK believe using terms of endearment is unacceptable (One Poll, 2012).
- More than 50% of UK employees have witnessed racism at work (Pearn Kandola, 2018).
- More than 33% of black or ethnicity minority (BAME) workers have been subject to racism at work (TUC, 2017).
