Transport Data Capture

On this project they are using an online platform, in partnership with Datascope, to capture all carbon emission data generated from the transport of materials and waste.

Each trade contractor has to book all material deliveries and waste removal trucks visits 48 hours before arrival in order to be accepted to site. The booking process includes, among other things, several environmental related information such as:

  • Type of vehicle
  • CO2 class
  • FORS number
  • Material category
  • Packaging type
  • Dispatch postcode to calculate the total distance

The system then generates CO2 emission reports for each vehicle entering or existing the site which can be filtered by any of the above categories.

This real time data provides the following benefits:

  • Guarantees clarity on carbon emission data filtered by date, trade contractor or type of material
  • Ensures that all transport-related carbon emission data is captured regardless of the size of vehicle (from cars and vans to HGV-articulated vehicles)
  • Ensures 100% compliance with FORS, as the licence number has to be added on every delivery
  • Eliminates the use of paperwork as all the information is available online
  • Identifies the deliveries that require the largest volume of packaging so that bespoke waste minimisation action plans can be used to target the main contributors of packaging waste
  • Provides easily accessible historic carbon data since the beginning of the project to identify trends, compare CO2 emission performance with similar sites and create a data library for future projects.
