Galvanised Corrosion Cleaning Product

This contractor work with a specialist supplier to developed a solution that removed the white corrosion from the galvanised MEP first fix. The solution was to use a rock salt de-icer, rather than an ice melt chemical de-icer.

This de-icer was used to de-ice the buffalo board to the southern gantry.

The contractor and specialist contractor then undertook trials to prove that this solution cleans the corrosion and maintains the galvanised coating depth.

This process can enable otherwise wasted product to be remedied and retained on site, avoiding wastage. It can be used on existing installations enabling a more sustainable retrofit approach rather than replacement.

The cleaning solution removed the zinc oxide salts from the surface leaving a clean galvanised surface.
