Learn to Ride Cycle Track

In collaboration with the local council and the supply chain, this contractor wanted to not only construct a relief road but also take the opportunity to contribute meaningfully with the local community and leave a legacy that will still be there for the community to use and enjoy when they are long gone.

The cycle track initiative transformed a section of the park into a 40m learning space for children to develop essential bicycle riding skills in a safe and
controlled environment. The team worked collaboratively to design and build the dedicated cycle track, and through careful planning and execution they integrated this track into the landscape, ensuring accessibility and usability for all members of the community.

The project reflects a collaborative approach to delivery, with the site teams working alongside the Councillor Volunteer Scheme, County Council, District Council and 11 of their Supply Chain Partners to complete the track in line with the company ‘Stand Out, Make a Difference’ internal volunteering campaign.

Not only does this initiative enhance relationships with the local community it also promotes community wellbeing by providing a safe space for learning to ride cycles. The cycle track has had a positive impact on the local community, yielding numerous benefits. Primarily, it provides children with a safe space and controlled environment to learn essential cycle safety skills.
