Canary Wharf Contractor’s New District project is surrounded by the historic docklands and as such is home to a wide variety of wildlife.

A number of physical protections measures have been put in place to minimise the disruption and potential harm to surrounding ecosystems, however it was also deemed necessary to educate those working on the project about the breadth of ecological diversity that surrounded the site.

Part of this education strategy included the production and subsequent trial of a series of signs to highlight examples of wildlife that those working on the project may encounter. Such examples include Coots, Cormorants, Great Crested Grebes and Kingfishers.

With the signs proving to be hugely popular they are now due to be reinstated in a new educational facility, where we hope to bring young learners to site to demonstrate how we incorporate environmental protection within our construction planning and delivery.
