Raising Environmental Awareness Amongst Primary School Children

It is important to protect and preserve the natural environment.

Construction sites can utilise their knowledge and skills of protecting the environment to engage with children, to pass on their experience to the younger generation and raise awareness of important environmental issues.

Below is an example of how a site has raised awareness amongst the younger generation:

  • To raise awareness of environmental matters, the site worked with primary school pupils and students from the University’s Graphic Design programme;
  • They developed a series of cartoon characters, such as ‘Top Timbers’, ‘Magnificent Metals’, ‘Fantastic Plastics’ and ‘Cool Concretes’, to depict the different skip waste streams on the site.
