Drone Technology to Support Safe Working

During the coronavirus project shut-down, consideration was giving as to how best to communicate to furloughed workers, and those working from home, on how the site would operate when it reopened.

A sequence of aerial 360 degree panoramic spheres were generated using drone captured images. These were then processed using a cloud-based presentation suite, providing a virtual tour of the entire project which the team could then navigate.

The tour contains details of how coronavirus control measures were planned and/or implemented across the project, including alterations to walkways, external hand washing facilities, locations of thermal cameras and additional welfare cabins.

This virtual tour has proved very successful and the BRE project is currently looking at other ways of using this technology, including for immersive and interactive inductions for new starters.
