Dust Extraction Improves Sanding Work

Wernick Hire makes extensive use of orbital sanders during the refurbishment and preparation of cabins for hire, which can create dust in the work environment.

It is well known that breathing in construction dust can be harmful to health, but to combat this, Wernick Hire makes sure all workshop staff are appropriately kitted with respiratory protective equipment, and dust bags are used on all sanders.

Being a company committed to constant improvement in the field of Health and Safety, Wernick Hire began piloting alternative methods of on-tool dust extraction, in a bid to further minimise dust creation at source.

The process is simple; in place of the on-tool dust bag, the orbital sander is connected to an industrial dust extractor via a flexible hose. 90% of dust can be captured using this method offering a much safer sanding process. Thanks to successful trials the scheme is now being rolled out across all Wernick depots.
