Fall Protection Management System

Every element of edge protection on the site is assessed by the contractor when it is put in position. Once they have assessed and signed off that element of edge protection, this is logged on the Fall Protection Management System on Fieldview and provided a QR code.

This system allows the area of edge protection to be allocated to a contractor, showing that it is their responsibility to maintain that area. If there are issues found with that area of edge protection, they can access the Fall Protection Management System on site, via the QR code, and log the problem, raising a task to fix the problem directly to the contractor responsible. As contractors move to different areas on the project, or contractors change, the edge protection will be reallocated to the contractor currently within that area.

This was set up as falls from height are still responsible for a large number of accidents and injuries within the industry, so edge protection needs to be closely managed. This is a complex site with many contractors and many different areas of edge protection, meaning that it was important to allocate responsibility for areas of edge protection without creating a complicated paper-based system that was difficult to audit.

The benefits of this are that is creates one online, easy to use system storing all historic information related to that area of edge protection in one paperless system. It engages contractors in important safety issues and is a paperless system for handover of areas of edge protection.
