Interview Practice Sessions at a Local College

Some of our STEM Ambassadors worked with a local college to undertake a series of practice interview sessions aimed at existing 16+ students of varying abilities and skills.

The aim was to provide students with an opportunity to have their existing interview skills assessed, giving them an indication of their strongest and weakest areas and provide them with advice as to ways in which they can improve.

The interviews engaged the students in conversation by asking a series of interview style questions. Each interview question-set was tailored to suit the individual student, with for example more confident students having more challenging questions.

During the interviews we also assessed the students on their appearance, body language, attitude and communication skills.

At the end of each interview we provided the students with positive and negative feedback, and ways in which they could make improvements.

The students found the event extremely useful – so much so that the college have scheduled an additional session so that more of their students can take part next week.
