mac-group recognise the importance of having good mental and physical health for everyone working on our projects. During Mental Health Awareness Week (13th-19th May), mac-group held Mental Health toolbox talks on all sites, and distributed mental health badges and construction industry helpline cards. The Mountpark Baldonnell project also has two trained mental health first aiders on site.
In March 2019, Eoin McEvoy Project Manager and Mental Health First Aider on the Mountpark Baldonnell site, climbed to Everest Basecamp to raise money for Pieta House, Ireland. Pieta House opened its doors in 2006 and since then they have seen and helped over 36,000 people in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm.
The physical health of mac-group staff and sub-contractors is also important. On 20th and 21st of June 2019, a Health Screening clinic took place on site. All those who took part in the health screening received an Ancestry DNA kit complimentary of mac-group.
The Mountpark Baldonnell Team launched a Healthy Living Initiative to encourage a healthy lifestyle both at home and at work. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the mac team and subcontractors head off for a 2km walk at lunchtime. Promoting and encouraging the health and well-being of mac staff and sub-contractors demonstrates the commitment mac-group have to everyone working on site, which in turn helps to image the image of the construction industry.
