Lowie Bricks

This contractor collaborated with their supply chain with the aim of reducing their carbon footprint. They engaged with Lowie Bricks UK, who have developed a hybrid brick that significantly reduces carbon emissions compared to traditional clay-fired bricks. Unlike traditional bricks, which are kiln-fired at temperatures exceeding 1200°C and produce 33.36 kgCO², Lowie Hybrid bricks are manufactured using a vibropress process, which eliminates the need for kiln firing and produces only 0.24 kgCO², drastically reducing carbon emissions by 80%.

This approach demonstrates a significant step toward sustainable construction practices by drastically reducing the environmental impact of brick production.

The Lowie Hybrid brick offers a sustainable and scalable alternative to one of the most widely used construction materials. The adaptation of this method represents a significant shift in reducing the construction industry’s carbon footprint, addressing both environmental and industry-wide sustainability challenges in a novel and practical way.
