Preventing Debris Entering Kerbdrain Systems

To prevent small quantities of either cementitious or bituminous debris entering the ACO Kerbdrain system during their installation and subsequent road surfacing works this site team have used 3D printer technology to develop a plastic plug for insertion into the precast concrete units.

This prevents debris entering into the integral channel that then has the potential to pollute surface water disposal into the storm water or adjoining watercourse system and also avoids any subsequent workforce cleaning out activities pre-completion.

An added advantage is that they can be used on multiple occasions rather than the current practice of using ‘Duct Tape’ to seal the pre-formed holes.
