Readiband Technology for Fatigue

The health, safety and wellbeing of the BBMV workforce is of vital importance. BBMV at the Crossrail Whitechapel project worked in partnership with Fatigue Science Limited, as a part of a pilot to help enhance wellbeing in the workplace by looking at a sleep patterns in a sample of the workforce across all roles and shift patterns.

The pilot combined the use of Readiband wearable sleep technology with SAFTE (Sleep, Activity, Fatigue, Task and Effectiveness), an algorithm which uses established fatigue research data to identify any risk and to help establish interventions if necessary. The technology comprised a Fatigue Science mobile dashboard which could be used to help identify ways to improve employee health and safety.

Those using a Readiband sleep tracker have an individual and accurate indication of fatigue levels and risks in real time rather than in a paper based generic and out of date assessment. This information can be used by management teams to identify whether support is needed in the form of better sleep hygiene (practices that are conducive to regularly sleeping well), medical intervention or changes to work practices.
