Road User Collaboration

The project team recently had a member of the community, a London cyclist that travels past the Hackney site on a regular basis, travel in one of their HGV’s around London and the surrounding areas to show how they help to keep other road users safe.

The cyclist commented:

“This morning I have had the experience of sitting in the passenger seat of a lorry being driven around Central London and Essex. As a cyclist this has been a fantastic opportunity to see how much time is taken to ensure the safety of all road users, including other cyclist. I was impressed by the number of mirrors, cameras and safety barriers around the vehicle to help keep safe other road users.

John McNulty of JRL Group Ltd explained to me the building sites are managed with considerations made towards road safety. I was taken out by Bogdan from JRL who was a careful driver, who had been on many road safety courses, and is a fellow cyclist.

Hopefully other cyclists will take the opportunity to see what it is like driving on our busy roads in a HGV. A big thanks to Bogdan & John McNulty at JRL for making the experience possible. And a big thank you to Michael Barratt MBE for putting me in touch.”

The project team look forward to welcoming more of the local community to this experience in the future.
