Steel Reuse Programme

The team’s carbon engineering expertise developed an approach allowing the structural steel within the building to be recertified, refabricated and reused at the same site in the new proposed structure.

The proposed refabrication involves ribbon cutting the existing beams to increase the stiffness of the section, something which has never previously been done on a reused steel section.

They unlocked this opportunity through their total engineering approach. Assessing the risks in order to derive a best for project solution, enabling the steel to be dismantled and embedded in the proposed design and vertical extension.
