Temporary Reusable Bracing

This contractor has used modular temporary bracing systems that are fully reusable and adaptable for most structures, significantly reducing the tonnage of steel work required.

This modularisation system enhances sustainability, safety, and efficiency. The standard design saves bespoke details and fabrication requirements, allowing standard attachments to suit various projects with different frame sizes, geometry and connection types. It also removes the requirement for hot cutting within structures so no hot works or gasses are required.

The bracing length is assembled offsite and delivered ready to install. 25 tonnes was used on one of the buildings for reusable trestles and header beams, and 30 tonnes on another building for reusable temporary bracing.

By employing approximately 55 tonnes of reusable steel and reusing each item 20 times, the system achieves a drastic reduction in embodied carbon from 135 tonnes to 11 tonnes, compared to new single-use steel.
