The British Heart Foundation: Health at Work

The health and wellbeing of your workforce should be made a priority.

You can achieve this by working alongside the British Heart Foundation to raise awareness by using their free ‘health at work service’ to promote workplace health and wellbeing.

The British Heart Foundation can bring Health at Work events to your workplace for a small fee. These include:

  • Heart Health Workshops which are are short information-rich sessions that support staff to understand their heart health, and the steps they can take to reduce their risk of cardiovascular disease;
  • Health and Wellbeing Days  are vibrant events fully staffed with expert BHF practitioners, promoting a healthy lifestyle through a range of fun and interactive sessions.

As well as providing these services, issues such as healthy eating, giving up smoking, stress and mental wellbeing are tackled with the following suggestions being made:

  • Setting up a healthy breakfast bar to encourage employees to eat well before they start work;
  • Contact local health and fitness professionals to see if they can run on-site sessions;
  • Start up a ‘we quit at work challenge’ to encourage employees to quit smoking as a team;
  • Organise a pedometer challenge to get employees walking more;
  • Hold a healthy eating event to teach employees how they can eat more healthily at work.
