The A46 Anstey project team were challenged to find a simple but effective method to establish if people were happy working on this particular site, and that the various initiatives that had been put in place where making a real difference to their working environment.
The chosen solution was to use a stand-alone touch screen terminal that is often seen in various shops to collect customer feedback.
The manufacturer, CRT Viewpoint, was able to modify their terminal to provide a series of bespoke questions relating to various company health and wellbeing issues.
The terminal located where everyone passes by is quick and easy to use, provides data/feedback in real time and is anonymous.
The project team felt that the latter was particularly important as it allows people to make their views known who may have felt unable to do so in an open forum. This supports the company’s policy to have a fully inclusive and engaged workforce.
There are no more than six questions to answer and there is an opportunity to add/provide some written feedback at the end. The survey covers a different topic each week, the latest covering worker fatigue with the questions drawn from the ‘Spotlight on… worker fatigue’ learning toolkit.
The workforce is made aware of each survey’s findings, together with any required actions, through a weekly newsletter.
In the first few weeks of operation the project received 240 separate responses, 70 of which the respondent had also provided some written feedback.
