How to Beat Post Holiday Blues

There is nothing better than coming back from a holiday and having a welcoming email waiting for you in your inbox with some gentle steps to help you to settle down back into your working routine and to help you to overcome those Holiday Blues.

Our welcome e-mail reads as follows:

I hope you have had an amazing holiday and you are well rested and ready to come back to us full of energy! We have missed you and are looking forward to letting you know about all the exciting things that have happened since you have been away.

I personally know this is a very difficult time for you and post holiday blues can be difficult to handle, physically but mainly mentally.

Here are a few tips for you to follow that should hopefully make the process easier and less stressful for you:

  1. Plan and set goals before you return. Your top resource at work is your time, so work out who and what you need to spend yours on in order to achieve your goals.
  2. Get a good early night’s sleep the night before coming back.
  3. Match work to your natural rhythms. Try to coordinate challenging tasks with the times you are likely to be at your best.
  4. Focus on what you like.
  5. Find your own blend.
  6. Why not plan your next holiday or a mini break so you have something to look forward to and it doesn’t feel like a million miles away.

This gesture has been well received by our employees who welcomed the tips and said it made them feel valued.
