Safety initiatives to encourage positive safety attitudes and behaviour should involve everyone.

Learning from real-life accidents can be a powerful way of ensuring that the workforce fully understand the dangers and safety implications of working on a construction site.

Following the success of Jason’s story regarding his fall from a ladder at the age of 24, he has launched a new initiative called ‘Proud 2b Safe.’

This includes a follow-up film, focusing on the impact of his accident upon his life, friends and family.

Sites have reinforced key safety messages by showing Jason’s film at induction and at toolbox talks, in particular at toolbox talks before starting work at heights.

The human story can really impact upon operatives and make them consider personal attitudes towards safety.
