The project team felt that the current site induction progress could be improved, especially where operatives did not have English as their first language.
A young on-site Digital Engineer was challenged to come up with an effective site induction presentation that will promote engagement, regardless of language. With the support from the Digital Engineering Modelling team, an interactive site induction discussion module has been developing using the BIM modelling facility and 360 site photos. This has been a refreshing experience for site operatives.
The identified key benefits include:
The process was better understood than the previous site induction and it was easy to update with new 360 site photos including backgrounds and access to every element of the construction process. The induction is led by an onsite HS&E advisor. The system is updated every three weeks and has been found to be effective.
