On this project they have come up with the idea of a Tool Tethering Learning Hub to help their operatives with understanding the importance of tool tethering to prevent injuries and near misses from occurring. Something they we stand by is ‘Nothing touches the floor’.

This is very important as the site is a high rise frame with many of the operatives working on leading edges. This idea gives operatives a real understanding on the relevant tool tethers to use for that particular task. The board is split up into a three step process:

  1. Tether Point- Create a secure attachment point on your tool.
  2. Tool Lanyard- Choose the best Lanyard for your task.
  3. Anchor Point- Select between wristband, work belt or fixed point.

These steps help with showing the operatives what tether point to use, with the right tool lanyard and fixed to the correct anchor point. Each stage has images around the equipment to visually show what should be used when using that particular tool. There is a minimum requirements section stating what needs to be tested and certified to make it compliant to use, with working at heights being such an important thing in health and safety.
