Circular Glazing Scheme

During the removal and disposal of the single glazed windows, this contractor sent the windows to a manufacturing facility to reprocess the glazing into a worktop which was then installed in the fit out of the project.

They managed to provide the manufacturer with a total of 360 windows (3,500kg of glass), of which they have incorporated 1,500kg back into the building via tea point worktops, vanity units, floor numerals and decorative coasters for the reception space. The remaining glass has been safeguarded for use within the future fit outs in the building.

The typical recycling process, although great, does not expose the new tenants to the benefits that can be achieved through recycling and reusing materials. The client will be installing a plaque within the tea point to help raise the awareness of where the glass previously came from, and the carbon savings this achieved to help promote recycling from the tenants.
