Cleaner Construction for London

Following the results of a recent Non-Road Mobile Machinery audit, Battersea Phase 3a was chosen for inclusion in the Greater London Authority’s new air quality campaign, Cleaner Construction for London.

The campaign selected our project as a flagship to help promote exceptional emission standards operating in London to the wider UK, and international construction industry. The purpose of this is for other sites to adopt the same approaches taken by our project, and for other Local Authorities to utilise Merton’s approach to encourage a reduction in construction related emissions.

Specifically, the campaign involved a film crew visiting the site to shoot for the Greater London Authority’s promotional video for the campaign. Content included a compliance audit of our exemplary NRMM standards featuring a new stage V forklift, a hybrid excavator which has been in use intermittently throughout the project duration and our solar powered lighting rigs.

Quotes were also taken from the site team including the client, principal contractor and a trade contractor, each advocating their commitment to reduce construction related emissions. They also promoted the GLA’s current approach to Non-Road Mobile Machinery, their specialised NRMM team, online portal system and compliance audits.

The video content will then be shared across the UK and internationally to advocate reduced emissions by encouraging other cities to use our approach. Once edited, this will inspire sites to improve their emission standards and minimising the industry’s air quality impact.
