Creation of a Bespoke Degree Programme

Redrow Homes decided to engage with several educational establishments to create a bespoke degree focusing on the residential area of construction, which will hopefully result in a much improved industry image. The degree programme has been written collaboratively between Liverpool John Moores University and Coleg Cambria in North Wales, with the programme being delivered at Coleg Cambria in Wrexham.

The course, a BSc in Construction Management in Housebuilding, is the first dedicated degree of its type and is currently open to existing Redrow staff from all departments to develop their knowledge of domestic construction.

The first group of staff to take the course began in February 2018 and the second group started earlier this year. The groups have included a number of apprentices and trainee site managers who are progressing from Level 3 programmes as they are promoted and gain experience.

The careers of 23 company managers who are currently engaged on the initiative will certainly benefit from the knowledge they acquire in the process so subsequently will the customer.
