Drug Testing and Counselling Initiative

The risk and impact of drugs to an individual can be a serious concern to their own health, as well as others.

It is important to take the topic seriously and provide a thorough approach including both regulation and support, when considering the wellbeing and safety of the workforce.

Below is an example of how one site introduced drug testing and counselling:

  • Mandatory drug testing on site was included as part of the company policy;
  • Self-administered voluntary kits were made available;
  • An amnesty initiative was created on site to bring counselling and help to people addicted to illegal or legal substances;
  • The site lobbied their efforts to the board for approval and additional funding, if successful this will be rolled out across the group.
