HSE Guidance for Working in Confined Spaces

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has published some guidance for Working in Confined Spaces. This relates to the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997, and aims to ensure there are safety measures in place to protect those who may be required to work in a confined space with potentially little ventilation or problematic access.

There may be occasions where construction workers could be required to work in a confined space, so it worth checking whether working within that space is avoidable, and if not, what safety measures are required/ have been implemented. It is also worth considering whether the operative carrying out the work will be working in that space alone, and if so, are there are other staff members nearby to assist should he or she have an emergency whilst working in that space?
