Ochre Stabilisation

This contractor has utilised waste ochre from a former mining remediation authority mine to treat and remediate the heavy metal contaminated soils on this project.

This new use of Ochre diverts waste from the mining remediation projects from going to landfill. It also has the benefit of remediating a former industrial heavily contaminated site to reduce the risk to controlled waters and enable the development of the site.

The use of ochre to modify the contaminated soils also reduce the quantity of hazardous waste that requires removal from the site reducing the carbon footprint of the development.

This process is also substantially more cost effective that disposal to landfill.
