Vacuum Sucker for Lifting Precast Concrete Panels into Position

The building on this project was designed with precast concrete cladding panels on the ground floor. The first floor overhangs the ground floor envelope, which meant the panels could not be lifted from above.

So in order to maintain the programme and resolve the installation challenge, the contractor worked with a lifting specialist to develop a vacuum lifting device normally used to install glazing, to install PC Panels weighing up to 7T into place.

This has never previously been used before for this application and enabled them to successfully lift and safely install all of the PC Panels to the project without affecting the first-floor programme.

This was an efficient and safer method for installing precast concrete panels in difficult locations
