Sitka Spruce Childrens Book Creation

This contractor has launched a brand new book in partnership with Tales From Mother Earth – Sitka Spruce, the amazing timber tree.

This book shares the story of Sitka the Spruce, as they make their 80-year journey from the forest to the classroom and beyond, promoting to young learners that timber provides the planet with a positive and regenerative resource.

The project team took part in a national initiative by sharing the book with their families and organising readings in a local primary school. In total, the team donated 30 books to pupils locally.

Concepts such as land stewardship, managed forests and regenerative materials are all those that will feature heavily in the built environment and other industries in years to come. Through this book they hope the power of story telling will encourage future generations to learn more about how they can become custodians of the world around them.

They worked in partnership with Tales from Mother Earth, who write and illustrate informative stories for young children to re-engage with the natural world, enabling them to find out more about habitat preservation, biodiversity and the things they can do to act on climate change. There is also a video recording that features animated versions and educational activities to complete in the book.
