Circular Arts Network

Circular Arts Network (CAN) is an online platform for redistributing spare, used or surplus materials, exchanging skills and coordinating transport. This is aimed at creative communities – artists, craftspeople, technicians etc – but is welcome to be used by all.

CAN reduces waste and offers pathways for individuals, companies and organisations to support their local arts community by providing an opportunity for those working in the arts and creative industries a chance to reclaim materials or find resources for their latest projects or productions.

The local arts community (including theatres, designers, community crafts groups, schools and nurseries, arts students, architecture and building improvement projects etc) are struggling to operate in precarious economic times, whilst businesses and firms from other industries including construction, are keen to find ways to meet net zero and have a positive impact on their environment and communities. CAN presents a win-win opportunity to do both.

CAN is run by SPG, a CIC, and is supported by Creative Scotland and other funders. It has been used by National Theatre of Scotland, National Galleries of Scotland and Glasgow School of Art. Construction partners include HFD Group, Vinci Construction and Farrans.

To use can, you need to register for an account and post a listing of what you have – much like Gumtree or other sharing platforms. This is quick and free to do so.
