Interfaith Room

The new M1 J13-16 JV ‘One Team’ site offices now have a new InterFaith room. This is a calm and pleasant area where all faiths work together rather than individually. Numerous photographs of recent site-based community activity have been placed outside the room together with an interfaith festivals calendar.

The room has a three tier shelf specifically based on the correct height for the Koran which also enables the storage of prayer mats, head coverings, beads and books of all other faiths. All of these items have been donated and signed by local community faith leaders including an English and traditional Arabic Koran, a bible and books related to the Buddhist faith so far.

Traditional WC’s and separate washing facilities have also been separately within. A Qibla sticker has been placed on the ceiling facing Mecca, and a chair has also been carefully placed in the room. The direction and site plan map also has a mention of these unique features so that visitors are made aware of the InterFaith Room and can access and use it.

This room will have different focuses throughout the year depending on which festivals are being celebrated, but will cover all faiths equally. Regular updates will also be provided when different events are celebrated to share knowledge and make these as inclusive as possible.
