Lifting Prefabricated Modules

A novel way to lift prefabricated modules into place was designed, which reduces the risk of the activity, makes it possible to set down heavy equipment in confined spaces and avoids the need for extensive temporary works.

The initiative includes a C-shaped lifting hook fitted with an equalizer on top. The equalizer keeps the load completely leveled while lifting, while the C-hook allowed the load to be slotted under the steel gantry at an angle without setting the load down in between (and while keeping it ideally positioned, allowing movement in all directions).

Without this way to lift prefabricated modules, the operation would’ve required extensive temporary works in order to spread the weight of the load evenly (temporary timber) and rails to slide the module into place. This would’ve had to be done for every module on site, which would’ve been very resource and time consuming. The novel way is also safer, as the load is controlled and stabilised via the equalizer on the C-hook, which significantly reduces risk.
