Mental Health First Aid

Mental health issues and concerns are just as important as physical health problems.

It is vitally important that the workforce have sufficient support and advice should they need it.

Examples of how sites have dealt with potential mental health issues amongst their operatives include:

  • Twenty first-aiders were further trained as mental health counsellors, able to support everything from everyday worries to depression;
  • The site administrator was sent on a 2 day mental health first aid course, where they were trained to watch for behaviour changes in staff, such as stress, anxiety and depression;
  • A dedicated on-site nurse was employed and advice was made freely available on a range of health issues;
  • Confidential support and counselling was offered on site.
