On-site spirometry testing or, as it is more often called, lung function testing service can be offered to operatives to protect their health and wellbeing.

These lung function tests are very convenient, simple to engage and cause minimal disruption; with each lung function test only taking 15–20 minutes per person.

On-site, all that is needed is the use of a convenient and quiet room near to the workforce for the Occupational Health Advisor to work through the lung function tests for exposed staff in whatever order or timetable that suits.

When the test is conducted, the Occupational Health Advisor explains the results to the operative, and then at the end of the day, will give a quick debrief to the Manager and produce a summarised management report for your records.

All lung function test results are retained confidentially and having the previous test records allows for comparisons on subsequent visits to detect early signs of any abnormal deterioration in lung capacity and therefore help tackle issues before they become a more serious problem.

The spirometry testing is compliant with the statutory Health Surveillance requirements as laid down by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) or the COSHH regulations (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002) for substances identified as respiratory sensitisers.
