Pedestrian Diversion Routes

Since this project started there have been some some pedestrian incursions across the work site, to tackle this they have improved their communications and installed additional fencing to ensure that people know where to cross safely.

The initiatives they have put in place include:

  • Delivered 2,500 drinks coasters with a QR code to the National Highways webpage to pubs and restaurants.
  • Put up posters and postcards at places including tourist information centres, local hotels, bingo halls and hairdressers.
  • Media/social media campaign following the ‘yellow brick’ road, including floor signs and CCTV footage and images which shows various incursions to get across the strong message of how dangerous it is.
  • Feedback survey on the National Highways webpage accessed via the QR codes included on all the materials. This feedback survey is aimed at accessibility and lone females.
  • Hull Access Improvement Group and Access Association members attended and walked the pedestrian diversion to see how they can make improvements in regards to disabilities
  • Contacted Google maps to remove all the crossings and to give updated info for pedestrians
