The project team supported Mental Health Awareness Week 2023 by holding a stand down event which was well received by the workforce. The event included management starting a conversation with an operative to highlight the importance of talking and what individuals could do to help others who may be experiencing negative mental health.

A short period of non-work related conversations took place and different trades were encouraged to mix with each other. This initiative brought the workforce closer together and has encouraged inter-trade communications both work and non-work related. The management team are facilitating these informal catch ups more frequently throughout the contract.

In addition, the project team supported the findings of Ironmongery Direct’s latest research paper into suicide within trades by displaying a large high vis vest made up of 687 individual vests representing every life taken by suicide each year by a tradesperson. The vest was erected
at the start of Mental Health Awareness Week and will remain on the scaffolding until it is dismantled later this year.
