SKA rating is the environmental assessment method, benchmark and standard for non-domestic fit outs, such as the fitting out of office or retail space. SKA is led and owned by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Contractors can use SKA to commission the assessment and certification of a project from a RICS-accredited assessor. The SKA assessment assesses the fit out in terms of environmental topics such as energy, CO2 emissions, waste, water and pollution, to name a few. The assessment process takes place at three key stages of the project: design/ planning, delivery/ construction, and the occupancy stage.

If a site is registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and requires SKA accreditation, the site needs to achieve a score of 35 or above on their Scheme site visit.
