Rubber Modified Asphalt

This contractor coordinated with their road surfacing contractor, and construction material producer, to lay a 1755m2 area with a rubber modified asphalt.

The product is an environmentally sustainable alternative to conventional asphalt. The mix uses end of life tyres which are converted into new roads and pavements, resulting in up to 5% lower CO2 emissions during production.

The product is comprised of two mix designs and incorporates the rubber from up to 750 waste tyres for every km of highway surfaced.

Ultilow warm mix asphalts are manufactured and laid at lower temperatures than hot mix, resulting in lower CO2 emissions during production. This improved safety on site from reduction in noise and fumes.
